Summary

Remember Miss Piggy and Kermit The Frog? Yes? Then you will remember The Muppets. A popular TV show in last twenty years, you can now race your favourite ponging piggy, or frisky frog in the all-new, Mario Kart style, Muppet Race Mania. Considered to be a Mario Kart clone, this racer can be just as much fun to play as any racer in the genre.

Complete with a variety of themed tracks and tournaments, you can either progress your way through the game, or have a quick blast on the track of your choice. It’s these two different approaches that makes a game instantly accessible, while at the same time, creates a challenge for those that want it.

Graphics are of a reasonable quality, with a good range of textures, adding variety to the themed tracks. As much fun as MRM is to play, it has to be said that the analogue controls are very, very tricky, and should only be considered by the most competent of racers. However, given the “childlike” nature of this title, a standard directional pad would be more sufficient for ease of use.

There are a few minor, bonus items, which will help you influence the outcome of the race, such as power boosters. Use too many, and you will find your self being overtaken; use too little, and you wont be able to catch up.

A pleasurable racing title, even if most of the target audience wont be able to remember The Muppets. Adults out there, this one's for you!
