Summary

Pokemon has been a phenomenal success since its first appearance way back in 1995. The franchise soon became a name that everybody knew whether they liked it or not. At first there was Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow. Gold and Silver are on the way, but to keep the Pokemon fans pacified, Nintendo have released Pokemon Pinball on GameBoy Color.

A pinball game it may be, but the progression is the same as with the other Pokemon games. Once again, the idea is to complete your Pokedex and prove yourself a true Pokemon trainer. There are two tables to choose from, cleverly named the red table and the blue table. Both tables are unique in that they possess different Pokemon around the table. Some Pokemon act as props for the table. For example, a Cloyster may act as a ball catcher.

Not surprisingly, controls are simple, since you only have the flippers and a tilt button to deal with. The table is split into two screens, which can make the whole experience a little confusing, leaving you little time to react to the on-screen events.

With the Gold and Silver versions of the game not due until Easter 2001, Pokemon Pinball should, in the meantime, appease all Pokemaniacs out there.
