Summary

For many years Geoff Cramond’s Grand Prix 2 was regarded as the ultimate PC Formula 1 simulation. We have a new champion, the only successor to the throne has to be Grand Prix 3. This is the long waited sequel and it is more impressive than ever. GP3 includes nearly all the Drivers and teams from the 1998 season.

Gran Prix 3 is the definitive racing game for Formula 1 enthusiasts. It manages to capture the essence of real motor racing, the excitement, the adrenaline and the fierce competition. You can set the game up to your own personal preferences and skill level. If you are new to Formula 1 racing the computer can offer multiple driving assistances to help you. You can make you car indestructible, or have the computer help you with gears, breaking and steering. As you become progressively better at Grand Prix 3, you can gradually turn these assists off to make the game as realistic as you want.

The graphics in GP3 are stunning. The circuits are accurately modelled from real telemetry and the design team visited all the tracks to photograph them. There is very little difference between playing this game and watching a race on TV. GP3 also supports force-feedback steering wheels, these wheels give you a physical feeling of what your car is doing and how much grip you have. This feature makes the game even more immersive and addictive.

If you are a fan of Formula 1 or racing games in general, you simply can’t get better than Grand Prix 3.
