Summary
Need For Speed:Hot Pursuit is yet another addition to the family, hot on the heels of its immediate predecessor, NFS2. A few tweaks here, and a minor fettle there, and in this third instalment, it looks like the good folks at Need For Speed Central have just about got it right. There are some of the world’s fastest and most desirable cars here, such as the Lamborghini Diablo and Ferrari 550 Maranello, all waiting for you to get behind the wheel and burn some serious rubber.
In a new twist to this series, one of the options is to try to outrun the police, hence the titular reference. The fact that these police cars manage to keep pace with the fastest cars anywhere in the world doesn’t really seem to matter, because you can have much more fun trying to get away. Realism in this mode doesn’t get a look in, and it’s all the better for it.
Other options include two-player split-screen racing, tournament mode, and day or night racing.
