Summary

With an intriguing storyline, at the time of release Red Alert must be the most tactically involving military games available. While Microsoft's Close Combat provided a world of pure strategy and tactics, Red Alert goes one step further providing the ability to not only command but to create. The PC is the home of games that will grip your intellect. Red Alert gives you the chance to be a general for the side of your choice.

The game starts off in the mid-1940's, in a secret laboratory located in New Mexico. At this time the allies have nearly won World War II but at the cost of millions of lives around the globe. One scientist decides to change things - to put the wrongs right by eliminating the man who started it all. Using a top-secret time shifting device he travels back to the late 1920's, where he meets a young Adolf Hitler. The future of our world is in jeopardy.

In Red Alert you choose which side you are going to fight for, either the Soviets or the Allies. Each Side has it’s own C.D. with unique mission objectives and units. The allies have technology that is not available to the soviets and vice versa. This adds to the longevity of title because effectively it is two games in one. It’s nice to see the the enemy win for change.
