Summary

View Point from Sammy games and SNK was the first real blockbuster shoot-em-up on the Neo Geo. It still stands as the pioneer of 3D shooters, capturing a brilliant insectoid robot feel. This is straight from the arcades of Japan and you will instantly notice how damned difficult it is.
View Point plays in the standard shoot-em-up format ie: waves of baddies, with the occasional big one thrown in for good measure leading up to a boss at the end. It’s the structure of the levels that really stands out. The enemies are as varied in their appearance as they are deceptive in flight.
The game is limited in the game options dept. You get a choice of one ship and there is one power-up available. But fear not, the power-up is, your friend and mine, a set of trusty pods! These can be swung around your ship for protection or be made to fly in formation, increasing your forward firepower.
View Point is exhausting to play as it requires you to hammer the Neo’s buttons extremely fast in order to get off enough rounds to survive. There is also a charge facility as seen in R-Type, allowing you build up your firepower to be released in a single, devastating attack.
