Summary

The French may have won the World Cup in 1998, but they haven't been able to carry over their impressive form. Not as far as this game is concerned anyway! It's a valiant attempt that really needs a couple of seasons in the top flight before it can mount a serious challenge for honours. The featured international teams are authentic enough, but club teams have been allocated pseudonyms. Fiorentina, for example, have been dubbed Firenze, Celtic are represented as Glasgow Greens. A bit of a disappointment for a true football fan.

These gripes aside, the graphics are pretty good and the gameplay is fun, but not much of a challenge to be honest. In an overcrowded genre, UEFA Striker is strictly first division fare, with only an outside shot of making the play-offs.
