Summary

The puzzle genre has had a hard time through its conversion from 2D to 3D, essentially because everything that could be done with the puzzle game was already on the shelves for the 2D platforms of the 8 and 16-bit era. Designers had to come up with something new; something that would employ 3D technology. Q*Bert, an early 3D puzzle creation is among some of the few successes to utilise the new found dimension.

The gameplay behind Q*Bert remains as simple as any other available puzzle title. Based around a set of attached isometric cubes, you must navigate yourself around the grid and transform the blocks to their original colour. Attempting to prevent your progress are a number of obstacles and bad guys, including your archenemy, Coily the snake. Your skills of dexterity and evasion need to be at their best if you are to succeed at this tricky little puzzler. Levels get noticeably harder almost immediately, forcing you to improve and perfect your abilities as a puzzle king.

Q*Bert is a tricky little puzzler, but it does have that addictive quality about it.
