Summary

Street Fighter EX plus Alpha 2 for the Sony Playstation is all out 3D fighting game. Using one of the most popular beat-em-up franchises of the 1990’s, EX2 improves on the original game with great new ideas and characters. The street fighter series is well respected because of it’s finely balanced and refined gameplay. This game takes that great heritage, combines it with quality visuals and sound to produce one amazing title.

The basic idea of Street Fighter is to deplete your opponent’s energy before he has the chance to do the same to you. Normal moves will only get you so far. By combining joystick movements to precise button presses, it’s possible to do special moves like dragon punches or somersault kicks. Combinations of moves are possible with the right timing and practice. Luckily, EX2 has a combo training mode for all of the characters and when you get these down, victory is around the corner.

By building up your super gauge, you can unleash powerful multi-hitting attacks. These can be buffered into a combo for the ultimate devastation and they definitely finish the match with style. Alternatively, you can sacrifice one level of super for a guard break attack which will open your opponent up when things are getting close. New to EX2 is the ‘excel’ attack which you can link any move or special move together for custom combo madness.

Street Fighter EX plus Alpha 2 is action packed, well presented and is a game that deserves going back to, again and again.
