Summary

Acclaim’s Turok first made its appearance soon after the launch of Nintendo 64, in March 1997 at the unreasonable price of 70 pounds. This was perhaps due to the heavy development time of the game, and it showed in the finished product. Acclaim have always been a loyal customer to Nintendo, and have continued to develop for the dying format with further sequels of the Turok franchise. Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion hits the shop shelves almost three and a half years later, to a small, but warm reception.

Turok 3 takes full advantage of the console’s four controller ports in a multi-player death match option. You can challenge up to three of your friends simultaneously, in a match to the death to see who is the last man standing. Those of you with plenty of time on your hands can take advantage of the game’s engrossing single player mode. The story line is like something out of a Hollywood production studio; it’s been given that much thought. Once the story is set, you must take control of either Joseph or Danielle, go into first-person mode, and get into the game proper. You will have unique weapons, depending on your chosen character, and you must use them against as many as forty newly created bad guys. This mission, should you choose to accept it, is to survive, and continue the name of Turok. Good luck.
