Summary

Many people would say that there is only one company who have the ability to match, or even better Nintendo’s quality on their own hardware. That company, is second party developer, Rareware. With the release of Donkey Kong Country on GameBoy Color, it is apparent that no one has mastered the ageing piece of hardware better than Rare.

Surprisingly, Rare has managed to develop a faithful conversion of a 16-bit classic, to an 8-bit handheld console. Amazingly, the astonishing graphics of the SNES version have not been down graded a great deal for GameBoy Color. The level design, map layout and game features are identical to each other. After a long night’s sleep, you wake, only to succumb to the knowledge that your treasured banana hoard has been stolen. After discovering that King K. Rool is the culprit, you must go on an adventure with your fellow friend, Diddy Kong to rescue the hoard, and rid the world of K. Rool’s nasty scheming. You will travel through crocodile ridden jungles, mountaintops, and polluted power plants.

Rare’s development of the Miyamoto original has proved to be just as much of a classic as its arcade predecessors. What lengths would you go to for the sake of a few bananas?
