Summary

Every role-playing game tells a different story, whether it’s an original title or part of a series. Zax: Alien Hunter from JoWood continues to expand on the PC role-playing game, telling the tale of a bounty hunter as he undertakes an incredible journey.

As a hunter, Zax’s goal in life is simple: to be rich. It doesn’t matter how he acquires such wealth, just as long as he is successful. But on one particular venture into the galaxy, Zax's ship is shot down and he is forced to land on the nearest planet. Assuming the role of Zax, your mission within the game is to find all the necessary resources to put your ship back together and leave the hostile planet. But things never go to plan, and Zax soon finds himself fighting for his life against deadly aliens.

Zax is played within a 2D environment that is heavily detailed and beautiful to look at. The backgrounds are pre-rendered, yes, but all is forgotten once you realise the scale of this game and how challenging it is. The game features over 100 maps, heavily populated with numerous hazards, both organic and otherwise. Many areas of the game are puzzle-orientated and are ridden with death traps that must be negotiated to proceed to the next stage of the game. Other levels are combat-heavy, requiring great skills and lightning fast reactions.

To further increase the longevity of the game, the developers have included a multi-player option. Here, via the Internet or LAN, players can participate in opposing game modes such as Capture the Flag and Deathmatch. 16 players can participate in all.

All the above features are brought together with an intriguing plot that completes the adventure of Zax.
