Summary

Resident Evil 3 Nemesis has finally made its way onto the Dreamcast. Be warned, this game contains scenes of extreme violence and gore. If you are faint-hearted, it is probably best that you avoid this scary game. If being made to jump out of your skin sounds appealing, turn the lights down low and prepare to return to Racoon City. The undead have risen again and its Jill’s mission to escape from the city and put a stop these monstrosities.

This version is almost identical to the PlayStation version except for a few visual upgrades. The backgrounds remain similar because they are pre-rendered but the characters look a lot more detailed due to their higher polygon counts. The extra visual quality helps improve the realism of RE3 and makes it that bit more scary.

In the Dreamcast version, the secrets of the game are available from the start. You can choose a character costume for Jill before you start your adventure or choose to play the mini-game Mercenaries instead. Mercenaries is a great game, just like Resident Evil but without the puzzles. It is a complete action-packed blast-fest. There is a 2 minute time limit to contend with but you receive additional seconds by killing zombies and other enemies. If you do well in Mercenaries you can win weapons like unlimited rocket launcher for use in Resident Evil 3.

Resident Evil 3 is no Code Veronica, but it still nice to be able this game on the Dreamcast. There is a lot of gameplay here and many reasons to play through the game several times, hint hint!
