Summary

There is a plethora of “secret military operations” themed first person shooters to choose from these days. Not a bad thing, we’re sure you will agree. Delta Force Land Warrior from NovaLogic is one such game, and we like it very much. From the outset, the tone and feeling imparted upon the player is pretty dark. You are required to kill your enemies without thought or compassion, whilst carrying out the objectives laid down by the American government.

Anyway, enough of that. Land Warriors is a highly competent shooter, both technically and functionally. It plays well, with the controls feeling positive and familiar from the outset. Each mission follows a specific format. You fly in to the drop-zone and either parachute down or abseil to earth from the chopper. Then it is up to you.

Mission locations and objectives are varied and exciting. One day you will be fighting drug barons in Central America, and the next minute you find that you have been whisked off to Antarctica to protect essential oil pipes from terrorists.

To perform this vast array of tasks, you are provided with a better than expected arsenal of weaponry. This includes an unprecedented three different sniper rifles, ten machine guns and some evil bits of hardware like the Pancor Jackhammer Automatic Combat Shotgun. Add to this a list of various lethal explosives and side arms, you find that you are one tough cookie.

Delta Force Land Warriors takes military stealth espionage gameplay to new levels delivering the scenarios and weaponry lacking from so many other games.
