Summary

Simulators, although most popular as games, can often prove to be very educational and informative. Covering a wide range of subjects, these games are continuing to spread throughout the industry, replicating an increasing number of real life situations. Monte Cristo is now venturing into the business simulator with the release of Start Up for PC.

First of all, the player must choose from one of three industries to start their business in. These are the hi-tech fields of games consoles, mobile phones and Cyber TV. From this point on, you will have to manage everything from conception to Customer Services. Once you have chosen and perfected your product you will need to form an infallible marketing strategy, and initiate partnerships with the right people to strengthen your position. If all goes to plan, your competition won’t get a look in and you might even become the richest company in the world.

The whole of your business will be controlled from your office; this is your new home. From here, you will have full access to all aspects of your business, and you are free to make alterations with just the click of a mouse button.

But perhaps most importantly, your management skills need to be up to scratch. If you can’t keep your staff happy, well paid and looked after, your business will simply collapse.

For a business simulator, Start Up presents itself as being very thorough, both graphically and technically. It has full-on lengthy campaigns and scenarios, making Start Up a great game and one of the first of its kind.
