Summary

MDK - Mothers’ Day Kisses or Murder Death Kill, your decision - is bundled with its sequel in one handy compilation pack. MDK is a bizarre, but very cool action adventure game, starring our hero Kurt and the mad doctor Fluke Hawkins.

The story of the first game revolves around strange energy streams spanning the vastness of space. These streams are being created by beings know only as Stream Riders, who can travel anywhere they choose, leaving mayhem and destruction in their wake. Earth was crushed by six gigantic cities, Kurt is the only hope left.

MDK has a great control method, even though it is played in a third person perspective, it still plays in a similar fashion to Quake. You can move, strafe and fire in multiple directions simultaneously. It successfully balances action with stealth, and the sniper mode adds depth. Unlike most shoot-em-ups, MDK is full of puzzles and traps and boasts an addictive challenge.

MDK 2 continues the saga with loads of new items, playable characters, weapons and levels. In this game, you play as Kurt, Dr. Fluke and the uzi-toting dog, Max. Each character has their own unique abilities that are suited to the different environments. Kurt is agile and deadly, Max has four arms (useful for carrying four weapons at once) and Dr. Fluke can combine items and weapons to create new contraptions. The stealth aspect is improved upon with new cloaking devices, chameleon suits and new weapons include portable black holes. With over 10 difficult levels to conquer, MDK 2 is even more challenging than its predecessor.
