Summary
Spider-Man can do whatever a spider can and now you can do everything that Spider-Man can too. The hit PlayStation title Spider-man from Neversoft, the developers of Tony Hawk Pro Skater, is now available for the PC. Become the web-slinging super hero and stop Dr. Octopus’ plans once and for all.
Dr. Octopus is teaming up with the alien Symbiotes to unleash a wave of destruction across the planet. Symbiotes are creatures like parasites that need a host body to live. They are evil and enhance the strength of their hosts. If Dr. Octopus becomes joined with one of these creatures, he may become unstoppable.
The story of Spider-Man is similar to a comic book adventure. In between levels, cut-scenes featuring other members of the Marvel universe will appear to continue the plot. Even nemesis Venom is available to lend a helping hand.
Spider-Man makes a great video character, his superhero abilities work so well as special moves. Spidey can use his home made webbing to swing through the city, entangle enemies and protect himself in a dome. He can also climb on walls or ceilings. You can use these abilities to infiltrate buildings using a stealth approach, and to gain a tactical advantage over your foes.
The control method works well and the game engine is intelligent enough to make polygons transparent if they are obstructing your viewpoint. Another good feature of this title is the amount of hidden extras that can be unlocked by completing the game several times. Hidden artwork, characters and other goodies increase the desire to keep playing Spider-Man.
