Summary

Good old Capcom is at it again. You may not be aware of this, but over at Capcom Towers in Japan, they have a giant machine hidden away in the cellar called the EasyMoneyTron 6000 Super Decision Maker Gaiden Plus Alpha II. This machine tells Capcom what to do.

For instance, the company’s directors approach it on their knees and sacrifice four chickens to appease its wrath. They then pray to it, appealing for guidance in the tempestuous industry that is video games.

The machine usually says, “Konichiwa! Make more Street Fighter games!” or, if they telephone it, it says, “Mushi, mushi! Make another game with dinosaurs in it. Or Zombies perhaps!”

But sometimes, the EasyMoneyTron 6000 Super Decision Maker Gaiden Plus Alpha II has an amazing brainwave.

For instance, when the Xbox was announced, after puzzling over why its outer casing was so large and ungainly, the EasyMoneyTron 6000 Super Decision Maker Gaiden Plus Alpha II said, “Konichiwa!” (They had gone to see it as opposed to calling it). “This console is so big, it needs a game featuring more than just zombies and dinosaurs.”

After eighteen chickens and two days of careful consideration, the EasyMoneyTron 6000 Super Decision Maker Gaiden Plus Alpha II summoned Capcom’s directors to its lair.

“Konichiwa!” it said. “I have made a decision! We will release for the ungainly American console, a game so astounding, the world will quake before it! For what could be more powerful than a game featuring both zombies and dinosaurs?” There was a pause… “Wait! Screamed the EasyMoneyTron 6000 Super Decision Maker Gaiden Plus Alpha II. “There is something. Zombie dinosaurs! Go forth and create!”

And it was through this exact process that Dino Crisis 3 was born. That's what the bloke in the pub told us, anyhow...

In all seriousness, Dino Crisis 3 for the Xbox is the latest in the series, and has taken a dark twist which has resulted in the third game being set in space. The basic story sees a giant spaceship called Ozymandius hurtling though space towards Earth, having been lost and uncontactable in the darkest recesses of the universe for 300 years. You play one of the marines sent in to establish whether or not there are any survivors and change the disastrous course of the hulking vessel.

As the year is 2548, walking has been replaced by hyper-boosting, which sees players able to move around at a ridiculously rapid pace.

A welcome change to a series that had perhaps been lacking in creativity somewhat, as well as rejuvenating Capcom’s very own survival horror genre. All hail the wisdom of the EasyMoneyTron 6000 Super Decision Maker Gaiden Plus Alpha II!
