Summary

The Learning Company, known best for its entertaining and educational children’s titles, is bringing a high-octane racer to the PC. Taking control of a snowmobile, Ski Doo X Team Racing is the latest to emerge from Daydream Studios. This is serious fun!

Ski Doo enables players to experience both indoor and outdoor racing. The indoor environments look very much standard issue, but it is the bizarre control method of the snowmobiles that makes this game compelling. The sleds seem to glide around the tracks as if on water. It’s very much like Waverace on snow.

The outdoor section of the game in particular looks stunning, with a good draw distance, a great deal of detailed landscapes. But the ability to proceed from start to finish in any way you desire is most interesting. Players can even perform incredible tricks after launching themselves over insane ‘death cliffs’. Smart!

Whether you participate in circuit racing or free racing, either mode can only be described as an absolute hoot. Why? Well, it makes for a phenomenal multi-player game. As well standard multi-player antics, Ski Doo also features an online play option. Here, players can participate in a competition in which they are oblivious to the opponent’s strategies. This feature makes gameplay unpredictable and very intense, and it’s great fun to take part in.

With three unique sleds, 15 well designed courses, 8-way racing and a stunt mode, Ski Doo X Team Racing has everything players could expect from a snow-based racing game.
