Summary

Now-defunct developement studio Gremlin is a name from the recent past to conjure with, and the company's legacy lives on thanks to the efforts of fellow 'Sheffielders' Zoo Digital Publishing. Gremlin's Actua series is one of its most fondly remembered offerings - a sports range that was the cream of the crop in its early PlayStation heyday. Well, now it's been revived with Actua Pool for PC.

Gremlin's first attempt at a pool simulation, Actua Pool is in fact bold and brilliant for a debut shot. As well as bringing with it accurate gameplay and reasonably good ball physics and cue-to-ball animations, it also offers a peaceful setting with chilled backdrops. There are several cameras available to help you take the best shot you can, and stiff competition from AI characters poses a formidable challenge.
