Summary

For every anti-terrorist organisation there are ten terrorist groups in waiting. Good guys will always have their enemies, but Sci's Conflict: Desert Storm gives hero hopefuls of the virtual world something to strive for. Yup, there's a terrorist threat coming your way and you're the one holding the controller.

On the morning of August 2, 1990, 300,000 Iraqi troops invaded Kuwait. Shortly after, diplomatic efforts failed and opposing coalition forces responded - the Gulf War had begun.

A game very much similar in theme and design to SWAT, Rainbow Six and Delta Force, Sci's third-person team-based outing is likely to undergo considerable scrutiny from the genre's hardcore following.

Veterans of the squad-based RTS experience will no doubt be familiar with the tasks and obstacles that lie ahead in Desert Storm. There are espionage missions, search and rescue-style missions and direct combat missions, many of which have multiple solutions. But newcomers will also find the superior level of realism and variety of missions extremely appealing, as well as difficult.

Armed with the latest in state-of-the-art weaponry and stealth gear, you and your team of four must navigate a series of hostile environments and enemy infested buildings and enclosures. Avoiding conflict with your opposing force is advisable, but that wouldn't give players much to do, so inevitably, you're gonna get caught and you're gonna have to fight. Be prepared.

Given the amount of time and effort that developers Pivotal have put into Conflict: Desert Storm, it is easy to appreciate the finished product. One of the best, most accurate and realistic combat games created, this game will go down a storm. Maybe even a desert storm... sorry.
