Casting Disney's biggest stars as skateboarding maestros, Disney Sports Skateboarding sees Mickey, Donald and the gang strap on pads and helmets and partaking in a series of arcade-style competitions. The GBA version boasts eight challenging skate parks based on specific Disney themes, including a space station, downtown San Francisco and an enchanted castle, with each character charged with performing key moves and stunts, specifically tied in with the unique locations.
As with all Disney Sports titles, Disney Sports Skateboarding has been designed to appeal to all levels of games players. The Game Boy Advance version features an adept control system. Just reward for exceptional performance comes in the form of new boards, outfits and stickers that are revealed as key tasks and tricks are completed.
Adding an unpredictable element to the action, however, are Chip and Dale, a pair of troublesome chipmunks. Perturbed at the intrusion as Mickey and company are rolling around, the two chipmunks attempt to sabotage performances by scattering walnuts over the courses to trip players up, or by throwing them at the characters as they are skating.
With game modes offering Time Attacks and Trick Champion options and cartoon-quality visuals, Disney Sports Skateboarding is a welcome addition to the Disney Sports series.
