Summary
Gold Edition - no gold though. Not even any of those gold-covered, chocolate pennies that your mum gets at Christmas. What there is, however, is a smashing great first-person shooter by the name of Ghost Recon, bundled with its subsequent mission pack Desert Siege. And all for a rather economical, sub-30 quid price tag. Can't be bad.
Ghost Recon places players in charge of the Ghosts - a unique squad, which focuses on covert military strikes and international peacekeeping missions that don't always go as planned. Conducting missions on foot, players occasionally have assistance from troops in tanks, helicopters and close air support, as they work with international military forces and NATO in the fight against rising dictators and rebel groups.
The Ghosts are also the guinea pig squad for testing the Army's latest and greatest equipment and weaponry. Players have access to the latest weapons, such as an M-16 assault rifle with a grenade launcher mounted underneath, or they could be responsible for the M-136 Anti-Tank Rocket that is carried on the back.
The Desert Siege Mission Pack sees the introduction of new weapons, vehicles and enemies, whilst enhanced sound and visual effects ensure that the trademark realism and tension of the original game is maintained in the arid and unforgiving environments of North Africa. In addition to the eight new single-player missions, the mission pack also includes Multiplayer maps for LAN and online play via Ubi.com.
