Summary

With Midas' recent PSX budget strategy of releasing a game for practically every popular genre, it was only to be expected that a snowboarding sim of some description would surface. Well, Snowboard Racer is just that and, continuing the tradition of the Midas Touch range, appears in the form of a comfortingly simple racing/trick performing game.

Apparently taking place at the world's craziest resort, the action in Snowboard Racer sees you select your preferred character and make your way across an assortment of challenging courses. There are eight characters featuring throughout, each one in possession of his or her own unique attributes and style.

Taking to the slopes requires all your skills and concentration as you take the racing line through the flags, jump huge ramps, zigzag through pine trees and cut through the powder in a race to the finish.

There are two very different game modes on offer, Race and Trick, allowing you to take up a number of different challenges: race time trial against the clock, compete with AI opponents or try to impress the judges with some cool and dangerous moves.

A total of 27 course variations are there for you to unlock and race, making for some great value gameplay time when you consider the game's sub-£8 price tag.
