The original arcade version of Silent Scope is one darn fine experience, as the concept revolves around the use of an authentically recreated sniper rifle, complete with fully functioning telescopic sight. Subsequently, console translations have suffered mixed opinions, purely because, well, you've only got a control pad to play with, which somewhat defies the point. Well this latest addition to Konami's sniper-based shoot-em-up series goes a little towards rectifying the situation, being the first release to benefit from light gun support (still no scope, obviously).
As the title more than suggests, Silent Scope Complete is indeed complete, offering all three arcade hits - Silent Scope, Silent Scope 2, Silent Scope: Dark Silhouette - as well as the console exclusive Silent Scope 3, all in one rather tidy package. As such, there are over 50 levels of sharp-shooting action on offer, each complete with multiple endings and routes.
Taking advantage of the fact that the Xbox is somewhat more powerful than the original arcade's architecture, Silent Scope Complete boasts enhanced graphics and also contains plenty of cinematics. Increasing the game's realism, the game features an advanced targeting system and 3D sound system, which allow you to precisely pinpoint and eliminate enemy targets. A good thing indeed, seeing as throughout each mission you are timed and scored for accuracy.
Also to be found in SSC is a two-player mode - which allows you to either play co-operatively or go for the one-on-one snipe-off - as well as the ability to unlock an assortment of hidden stages and modes - thus adding even more life to what is effectively four games in one anyway. Bravo indeed!
