Summary

The still quite recent multiplatform release of Ghost Recon 2 was greeted with approval by fans of Tom Clancy’s ever broadening portfolio. While the first Ghost Recon was criticised for not differing enough from the PC version, the second console outing was praised for speaking the nuanced language of the home video game system.

Now, exclusive to Xbox, comes this special edition of the popular title: Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike. The game features all the undercover action of the first GR2 with added missions, weapons, and multiplayer maps to enjoy on Xbox Live!

It’s 2012 and Kazakhstan, home country of TV presenter Borat, has been thrown into chaos by the assassination of the country’s president and the Security Council at the summit strike mentioned in the title. Behind the carnage is a sinister Pakistani arms dealer. The UN have given the green light to go in and stabilise the region with the help of indigenous forces. Shadowing the whole operation in the way only an elite reconnaissance team can are the Ghosts. And you are in charge.

Leading a fresh team of operatives into the delicate world of tactical espionage, your job is made easier by an intuitive interface that allows you to issue accurate commands to your squad members. You can yell orders as you see fit, or you can use hand signals should your mission require the use of stealth tactics.

Just as vulnerable as the soldier leading them, each member of your team will grow and change as the story unfolds. They have their own special abilities and even unique personalities, helping to bring a greater sense of realism to the proceedings.

And making a massive game even bigger is online play. Via the magic of Xbox Live!, up to 16 players can partake in a mixture of multi-player modes that include both competitive and co-operative playing arenas.

Something to keep fans of the Clancy games busy while they wait for Ghost Recon 3, GR2: SS has all the hallmarks of a quality Clancy title and is developed as usual by the wizrds at Red Storm.
