Summary

Chris Taylor and the chaps over at Gas Powered Games, the guys behind Dungeon Siege, are back. While you'd struggle to call a game set in space a 'sequel' to the team's critically-lauded fantasy battler, if you put the word 'spiritual' in front of it, you might just get away with it.

Space Siege takes the frantic combat of its swords and sorcery predecessor and transplants it to the eerie bowels of a space ship. More specifically, players are whisked away to the Armstrong. As an alien assault devastated the Earth, five ships were sent forth to evacuate the world's children. Unfortunately, the Armstrong was the only one to make it through.

Things don't get any better when the Armstrong comes under attack. That's when you need to step up as Seth Walker, combat engineer, to battle for the future of humanity.

The question you'll have to ask yourself as you make your way through this action-RPG is - are you prepared to sacrifice your own humanity for mankind's future? As you progress, various cybernetic enhancements can be grafted to your body in the game's branching storyline to make you a better match for your enemies. But is it worth the cost?

Expect frantic, dungeon-crawling shooter action with bright lights a-plenty and a robot sidekick. HR-V ('Harvey', if you prefer) will not only back you up in a firefight, but also provide the game with a tactical element as you load him up with set commands to deploy at your discretion.

Additionally, expect a separate four-player co-op mode to spice things up.

Go on, do it for the kids!
