Summary

A DS game, a cooking and shopping manual plus 100 of Jamie Oliver's own recipes. What's Cooking with Jamie Oliver seems to offer the full range of culinary immersion on Nintendo's best-selling handheld.

The star chef has not only leant his own recipes to budding cooks, he's also voicing the game in distinctly English style – but without the colour of rival Gordon Ramsay. The recipes range from the simple, an omelette, all the way up to the advanced mushroom risotto. These are illustrated with photography by David Loftus, so players will have a definite idea of how their dishes should turn out.

Creating those dishes in the game is one thing – set in one of 10 3D kitchens, you can even cook against friends. But What's Cooking with Jamie Oliver also enables you to take your skills to the real world thanks to the interactive shopping list. This actually enables you to save the ingredients from either Oliver's or your own recipes to an ordered list (structured by food type). This can then be taken to the supermarket or farmers' market as a genuine shopping aid.

The game element of What's Cooking with Jamie Oliver sees players competing against the clock in order to master the Naked Chef's recipes. Using the DS's stylus, players crack eggs, slice meat and veg, whisk cream, flip pans and generally find their way around a kitchen.
