Who fancies a quick swim? Endless Ocean provided one of the most serene gaming experiences on a console when it was first introduced on the Wii in 2007. This time the diving game returns with more creatures to see and more features to take advantage of.
There are several different seas to discover and explore at your leisure, from the icy Arctic waters to sunken wrecks in the Aegean Sea and even the Brazilian Amazon river. In a touch that's a little ironic for the series, Endless Ocean 2 even lets you wander the dry land nearby to spot different kinds of birds and non-aquatic wildlife.
There are missions to undertake in Endless Ocean 2, which involve you getting closer to marine creatures and saving the environment in an underwater Captain Planet style. Swimming with humpback whales, riding dolphins and maintaining coral reefs will be the kinds of tasks you'll get up to here, with your trusty Pulsar gun equipped to fend off any dangerous predators. You can heal sick creatures with your equipment too.
Even the most environmentally aware divers can be greedy sometimes. Treasure is hidden within the murky deep, and you can use your Detector to locate any ancient artefacts that may be nearby. Your underwater camera can be used to take photographs for nature magazines, and you can also help solve any mysteries of the ocean to unlock new bonuses and challenges.
If you feel like the environment makes you feel a bit lonely, you can call a friend to explore the area with you in a multiplayer mode, and using the Nintendo WiFi Connection you can also visit your friend's oceans and rivers. The game is compatible with Wii Speak, so you can talk about the biggest whales you've seen with your fellow divers.
