Summary

It's hard to think that Toshihiro Nagoshi, the man behind the ultra-violent Yakuza series, is the same chap that's brought the hyper-colourful Super Monkey Ball to our screens. But he is, and we love him for it – and we also love the fact that AiAi and his monkey friends have returned to the Wii.

A twisted form of Marble Madness-like gameplay (tilt the game world instead of the ball) fused with the addictive nature of classic Sega arcade games, it's hard not to like Super Monkey Ball. And this new entry on the Wii, Step&Roll, allows you to step onto the Balance Board and tilt your way to bananas and freedom!

After finding a centre of balance, leaning ever so slightly in a certain direction will move the colourful world around, which will in turn cause your monkey-in-a-ball to roll in that direction. Opening levels are fairly straightforward, but as you progress to the later stages you'll find that there are ramps, well-timed jumps and excruciatingly narrow paths to overcome if you want to avoid falling into the abyss.

When you're not challenging yourself with the single player mode, Super Monkey Ball brings back its Party game traditions in multiplayer mode, with a racing game, skipping rope game and hovercraft challenges to name but a few.
