Summary

Fancy flying through Tom Clancy's 'danger zone' one more time? H.A.W.X. 2 looks to be even more intense and explosive than its predecessor, thanks to some gameplay tweaks and refinements that help add to the realistic air combat experience.

You are an elite fighter pilot, and in this uncertain world of modern warfare you must tackle threats from unknown insurgent terrorist cells. You'll be fighting this war on three fronts - British, American and Russian army factions all have their own enemies to nullify, but end up working together under the H.A.W.X. banner to put an end to terrorist tyranny once and for all.

All of the elements that made the first game great are still present in H.A.W.X. 2, but here you get to control all aspects of airborne warfare. Rather than starting missions in the air and ending them in a similar fashion, you control almost every aspect of the craft's command, from the moment you're assigned the mission to initial take-off, and even the landing too.

In-air combat is more heavily hinged on close-quarters assault rather than locking onto Tangos three miles away and watching your missile chase them. That's quite exciting to be involved in – swooping just close enough to enemies to spatter bullets at them, before elegantly curling away from their sights makes you feel like a real pro.

The multiplayer returns, but is focused on objective-based game-play rather than simple dogfighting. In H.A.W.X. 2's eight-player team play, you're still destroying your opponent for points, but to win the match you have to better them in various tasks. One map requires you to maintain control over a particular area, while another gives points for hitting other targets.
