Summary

Naruto – the classic Japanese Manga, anime and game character, in 3D? Yes indeed and for the very first time. Nintendo has managed to get the feisty hero onto the 3DS for a true 3D experience.

This version, well named as the ‘New Era’ sees Naruto selectable from the very start as a playable character. Later in the game, however, adventurous players (and those with a mean streak) will also be able to unlock Naruto’s nemesis Sasuke.

Naruto himself benefits from ‘Sage Mode’, in which – when his special gauge is charged to maximum – he transforms into a much more powerful version of himself. These two are joined by ten others, called ‘assist’ characters. These ten are split per chapter so that the gamer can use three per chapter, choosing to mix and match by skillset for tactical thinking and a more strategic approach to combat.

Adding to the newness of the New Era is the addition of an all-new female ninja called Malice who takes the made-for-the-game storyline (which is based on the last events of the manga and animation series) to interesting directions not seen before. Also new to the video game version of Naruto – but familiar to those who love the comics and animation are the The Five Kages.

All of this is played out over nine unique locations that include unlockable items and other secrets.

Finally, Sharingan codes are also used to unlock ingame items and characters when the player uses the 3DS’s camera to reveal those secret codes as they are released by publisher 505 games.
