Summary

War. Huh! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing. We all know the song. But while war is indeed an ugly thing, it does require the bravery of men (and women) to stand up and take part for the good of their country. But what if you’re not much of a countryman? What if you’ve been condemned for your crimes?

Men of War: Condemned Heroes puts a spotlight on this curious story, focusing on a tale that dates back to the infamous Soviet penal battalions during World War II. These battalions consisted of court-marshaled officers who were enlisted into the lowest rank and assigned the deadliest missions in an effort to redeem themselves for their past misgivings. It’s probably the best crime deterrent we’ve ever heard of.

But, with such a curious arrangement of troops, many myths surround these battalions and the things that they got up to. In this strategy-fest, 1C-Softclub aims to put a lens of truth on these anti-heroes, based on real evidence from former members. Fight from desperate battles in 1942 in the area of Volyn in the Ukraine, to the massive operation “Bagration” in the Brest area, Magnush bridgehead and Warsaw area in Poland and finally to attacks on the German Altdamm and Stettin near the end of the war.

When you emerge victorious, will you be reformed citizens? Will your crimes be truly redeemed? Play it and find out, why don’t you?
