Looking for the next big, great fantasy MMO? Then take a look at TERA, a majestic action role-playing game with a fresh combat system and an intriguing take on multiplayer quests - “all action, no faction” is the order of the day in the world of TERA.
What does that mean? Simply put, your enjoyment of the game won’t be impeded by your choice of character class - locations, enemies and teamwork perks are all engineered so that it’s easier for players to simply group up and face enemies together, rather than spend ages ignoring requests from friends in favour of a mage that would provide the perfect complement to your quest. In TERA, every player is the perfect complement to one another.
That doesn’t mean that character classes and races don’t exist, or are useless. Seven races (human, high elf, castanic, aman, popori, baraka and elin) can be coupled with eight classes (warrior, lancer, slayer, beserker, archer, sorcerer, priest and mystic) to provide a huge wealth of opportunities for replayability and interesting teamwork tactics.
In combat, TERA involves the depth and flexibility of online PC games with the immediacy of console action games - meaning less pointing and clicking and more real-time goblin-stomping! Player position, timing and aim determine your chances of success, which obviously increases the more players you have in your team (although your challenge may increase to suit).
With gorgeous graphics, impressive active enemy AI, a vibrant community and a political system that allows players to truly vie for leadership of the world’s provinces, TERA is a promising MMO that looks set to give World of Warcraft a run for its money.
