Summary
Alpha Polaris scores with its fresh setting as well as a unique detailed photo-realism meets comics graphical style.
The plot leads players through serenely beautiful settings in the middle of an icy Greenland, where mysterious happenings are afoot at the US research station Alpha Polaris. Shut off from any kind of civilisation and totally isolated in the research station, the player finds himself stepping into the unknown in the role of Norwegian biologist Rune Knudsen. Very soon he finds himself confronting his deepest fears as he is catapulted into a life and death struggle.
On their way to unravelling the sinister secrets of the Alpha Polaris research station, players solve numerous puzzles which have been woven into the narrative. As the story unfolds it moves through 40 richly detailed settings underscored by an atmospheric soundscape. Dozens of cut-scenes move the story forward, creating a sinister atmosphere likely to send a chill down the spine of even the most hardened adventure buff.
The dialogue is fully voiced, but backing that up is the use of expressive, hand-drawn dialogue portraits.
The point and click interface has been streamlined to create a smooth gameplay experience, while the puzzles play an integral part of the story.
