The sequel to 2011s hit horror title, Corpse Party, which follows the tales of a group of Japanese high school students trapped in an alternate reality, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows tells a series of short stories that help develop many of the characters introduced in the first game and explores some hypothetical scenarios, finally answering those What if they survived? questions. A horrifying blend of adventure gameplay and visual-novel style presentation, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows was developed and published by 5pb in Japan, with supervision and input from original Corpse Party developer Team GrisGris.
In Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, players will be thrown back in time to relive the horrific events that unfolded when they were thrown into another reality after visiting the condemned site of Heavenly Host. Armed with the knowledge gained during their first nightmarish trip in the original Corpse Party, players will be given an opportunity to change the fates of the games characters this time around. But is this second chance a blessing or a curse? Can the destiny of these unfortunate souls truly be altered, or will the attempt simply lead to an even more gruesome conclusion? Once again, wrong ends lurk around nearly every corner, amplified by binaural 3D audio effects and the chilling original Japanese voice track.
Gameplay in Corpse Party: Book of Shadows takes on an all-new point-and-click mechanic, showcasing the spine-tingling events experienced by the games characters from a first-person perspective. As the terror level rises for individual characters, the games darkening system will slowly distort the games visuals and alter the students decision-making abilities. Wrong ends, while just as disturbing, come with fewer consequences this time around, as players can save anywhere and fast-forward through events theyve already seen in order to expedite the process of achieving each scenarios true ending.
