Summary

Gamers who enjoyed Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix are in for a treat. That game dusted off and polished up the original Kingdom Hearts, along with Chain of Memories and a movie of 358/2 Days. This time out, we get the Final Mix versions of Kingdom Hearts II and Birth By Sleep along with the HD remastered cinematics of Kingdom Hearts: Re:coded.

For those new to the series it has a simple - if slightly mad - premise. In a nutshell, it's a mash-up of the kind of JRPG fare that publisher Square Enix is known for with a whole raft of characters from the world of Disney!

In terms of upgrades, Kingdom Hearts II now runs at a smooth framerate with a 1080p resolution. Birth by Sleep, meanwhile, benefits from a jump to the full controller for camera movement and a wider camera angle. The cutscenes have all been given a polish too, so you get to see all the Disney loveliness the way it ought to be. Also, importantly for Square fans, the Video Game Orchestra (you might know them from Lightning Returns) have completely re-scored Kingdom Hearts II as well as two tracks from Birth by Sleep.

For returning players there's also new stuff to do. There's a massive new side quest that sends you off scavenging the worlds to find hidden pieces of a puzzle, a new Sora-only Drive mode and something like 20 new boss fights.

With tons of game packed into the box there's loads here for Square and Disney fans to dig into.
