For a certain species of gamer out there, Ultimate NES Remix will be an unqualified win.
The title gives you a big fat clue as to what it's all about. Cherry-picking from its downloadable predecessors, Ultimate NES Remix takes some of Nintendo's finest 8-bit games and pulls from them a series of rapid-fire challenges sure to set pulses racing and thumbs twitching. The game presents challenges and mash-ups from no less than 16 classics of the Nintendo Entertainment System era.
Take, for example, Mario. The plumber's antics are an ideal fit for this formula. Challenges include speed runs, coin collecting and defeating classic bowser bosses. But a remix challenge might black out certain sections of the level, throw in characters from later games or fill the screen with clones designed to distract you.
There's a wealth of frantic nostalgia on offer here, with titles including Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Excitebike, Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros. 3, Zelda II- The Adventure of Link, Metroid, Kid Icarus, and Kirby’s Adventure all in the mix.
