Summary

While Marvel has been all over the silver screen over the last 10 years, it hasn't been seen so regularly on our games consoles. The famed House of Ideas has made regular appearances on mobile, but with a handful of exceptions hasn't done too much business in the living room.

Traveller's Tales, however, has been bucking that trend. With LEGO Marvel Superheroes the studio took a dive into the comics universe and now, with LEGO Marvel's Avengers, it's taken some inspiration from the world of the films.

Avengers: Age of Ultron provides the basis for most of the game, but Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier also provide some slices of story for players to chew on.

The game plays out with all the charm we've come to expect from the LEGO games. There's plenty of slapstick humour and visual gags galore, with dialogue voiced by the film actors themselves.

Once you've played through the Age of Ultron storyline there's an open world to explore. There are over a hundred different characters on offer here, with many unlocked through completing quests and puzzles in the open world, and each brings their particular abilities to bear. That's even more important than ever, thanks to team-up attacks that allow characters to unite and use their abilities in a powerful combo!
