LBX: Little Battlers eXperience - 3DS/2DS

Little Battlers eXperience is the first game in a new series from hit 3DS developer Level-5, the team behind the popular Professor Layton and Inazuma Eleven series. It's a double-treat for manga and anime fans, being based on the series (and toy line) it takes its name from.

Following the first series of the anime, set in the year 2046, the game tells the story of Van Yamano, a middle school student who also happens to be quite keen on palm-sized LBX robots - toys previously thought to be too dangerous to be controlled. With the invention of battle boxes, dioramas made of fortified cardboard, that all changes. Now kids can let their robots slug it out safely in their dedicated arenas.

When a mysterious woman entrusts Van with a special AX-00 LBX, however, things take an unexpected turn. She says the AX-00 could either save the world, or destroy it. A nasty organisation called the New Dawn Raisers sets its sights on the AX-00 and suddenly EVERYONE is in danger...

The game takes the form of a role-playing game, with lots of exploring through extensive dungeons in the city of Tokio to be done. What sets it apart, though, are the LBX battles. As you'd expect, they take place in battle boxes and can take a number of forms, be it 1v1, 3v3 or best of five. LBXs use a range of different weapons including swords, spears, rifles, and machine guns. Combat is fast and frantic, especially in 3v3 matches, where LBX seem to be coming from all sides!

Customisation is a big part of winning your battles, and the game offers 130 different models and more than 4,000 different parts to collect, giving players the chance to build something truly unique.

With the option for up to six players to duke it out, there's plenty here to keep fans of multiplayer happy, too. more
