Summary
The Monster Hunter series is one of those that has truly earned the moniker 'fan favourite'. With the latest entry in the series Capcom has, perhaps wisely, focused on deepening the experience that players already love rather than upsetting the apple cart. The core of Monster Hunter remains firmly in place, but the developers have focused on providing players with a broader range of ways to play.
The most obvious of these is the addition of specialisations called 'Hunter Styles' that come with their own special moves called 'Hunter Arts'. With Hunter Styles players can hone their skills in four different directions. Aerial Style, for example, focuses on mounting monsters, while Striker Style enables you to maximise the Hunter Arts that can be equipped.
Another new addition that broadens how you can play is the Prowler mode. Players can take on quests as a Felyne, tackling any of the game's single or multiplayer missions as well as sections specifically designed for them. They benefit from boundless energy and their own health-replenishing acorns. Resource gathering such as fishing and mining are simpler than ever when playing as a Prowler, meaning advanced players can channel more time into hunting and foraging to upgrade their armour and weaponry.
This all comes with a bigger roster of monsters than ever, including souped-up versions of past favourites!
