Summary

Set in a crime-riddled area of Japan, The Silver Case follows the investigation of a series of murders from the perspective of two characters. Primarily the story is told through text with striking 2D artwork to support the grim tone of the story.

This is a visual novel game through and through with no voice acting and very little in the way of motion graphics. The setting is 1999, 'the 24 Wards', and a series of mysterious killings plagues the city. The detectives of the Heinous Crimes Unit are eyeing up one man - legendary serial killer Kamui Uehara who also assassinated a number of prominent government officials two decades earlier in the infamous 'Silver Case'.

The only problem: no-one ever figured out who - or what - Kamui really is.

The game plays out through a mixture of classic visual novel mechanics and gameplay to in a first-person perspective where you move around the environment looking for clues and solving puzzles.

Any fan of the visual novel genre will likely find their interest piqued by this remastered classic, especially if they are Grasshopper Manufacture fans. The main draw here is that this is Goichi Suda's (more commonly known as Suda51) first game as writer and director with the developer.
