Summary

While Minecraft has dabbled in narrative storytelling, its bread and butter has always been the core crafting mechanics. Keen Games, however, is bridging the gap between crafting and adventure with Portal Knights, which combines the deep storytelling of action RPGs with the making that has defined Minecraft and the genre it has spawned.

In Portal Knights, players are transported to a world in which magic portals link a range of different environments. You'll mix with a range of non-player characters that offer up quests and goals across wildly varied procedurally generated landscapes.

While you're there, though, you (and your fully customisable character) might want to stop to build a massive castle perched on a mountaintop, or a sprawling underground nightclub, or... well, just about anything, really.

You can do all this solo, but you can also build and adventure with your pals. Not only can four of you team up online, you can also get someone round and onto your sofa for a bit of split-screen play, a feature sadly missing from many modern games.

Portal Knights isn't just about saving the world, it's about building it!
