Summary

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 makes a couple of significant leaps in the series' life in video games.

For fans of the original manga, it differs from One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 in that it focuses on a story from the series' canon. It begins at Fushia Village, where series hero Luffy first steps out on his journey to become the Pirate King. Players get the opportunity to recruit every member of the Strawhat Crew, including the likes of Fujitora, Trafalgar Law and Sabo.

Developer Omega Force notes that in Pirate Warriors 1 there were a lot of skipped parts, which also meant skipped characters. Those gaps will be filled in this time out, however and fans will get to play with characters up to and including the very latest to appear in the manga.

Omega Force has also made changes to the gameplay formula. Players who've dabbled with their games before will recognise them as the studio behind the likes of Dynasty Warriors, and that style of play appears here. Players will engage in sprawling hack 'n' slash combat sessions, taking on wave after wave of enemies at once, revelling in their own power. To keep players changing it up, there's the Kizuna Rush feature. This enables gamers to put together combos using multiple characters at once, shredding all opposition in the process.

One Piece fans and hack 'n' slash enthusiasts alike will find a lot to go at in Pirate Warriors 3.
