No, I do not agree with it. I don't understand the need to log on every 24 hours. I travel for work so I spend 5 days away from home every week. During this time my Xbox is powered off. I don't want to have authentification issues every time I log back on after being gone. That makes no sense to me. Also what happens to couch coop? I buy a game and friends come over to play coop with me. These friends have their own live accounts and sign in to my Xbox with them at the same time I am signed in as the primary. Is this new plan going to make it impossible to play that game together if my friend doesn't also own a copy of the game under his own account? If so that is going to put a lot more of my money into Playstation's pocket instead. I preordered both because I love gaming but Microsoft is making me wonder if I should bother with the Xbox.
@Brandon, from what they have been saying no its not going to affect co-op gaming. And your xone will be online while your working (in a low power state) and will update games for you while your away, so when you get home to can just start playing without needing to patch any games with have updates.
When you friends come over they will will also have access to their library when they sign in, so you'll be able to play coop on any games they own and you don't. There are some advantages to going digital.
It will matter the first time Bobby finds out his friend is getting more money for a comparable PS3 game than he can for his XBONE title, or that he can't sell it on eBay w/o jumping through a series of hoops.
Another serious concern is the new Kinect. I do not want an always connected spying web cam on me at all! I don't care how badly Microsoft wants to push this technology, I do not want it. I just want to play games with my controller. I do not want to flail about or jump up and down. And their comments that they care about our privacy is a load of crap. The fact that Microsoft thought it was cool to announce that we would receive achievements for watching commercials is ridiculous! Why is that an achievement? They clearly are using the camera to spy and sell "data" for marketing purposes. Microsoft, other companies, governments at any time could access this "data" and infringe on our privacy. No one should want an always connected web cam looking at them! Whoever at Microsoft thought this was a good idea to push should be immediately fired. The Xbox One should be able to turn on and run without Kinect, just like the Xbox 360. I can overlook the used game issue. I can also overlook the internet connection issue if I can play for 24 hours off line, log in for "updates" as Microsoft puts it, and then log off to continue playing my campaign game off line. What I absolutely cannot overlook is the need for an always connected web cam on me! They say you can turn it off or pause the new Kinect, whatever that means. Do they mean you can turn it off as you would your Xbox or TV when you are not playing? Or do they mean you can turn it off completely while playing? I want to know if I do not even have to have it connected and not even plugged in. I do not want Kinect at all. And I imagine a lot of other gamers do not want it either. Microsoft needs to address this issue before I even consider purchasing an Xbox One. I am a loyal Xbox consumer and do not own any Sony or Nintendo products, but Microsoft's new policies and their new "entertainment" system (it is not a gaming system, as it clearly is not designed for their core consumer, the gamer) have seriously made me think of getting a Playstation 4 instead of an Xbox One. Good luck Microsoft, but if you continue down the road you seem to not want to turn around on, I foresee you losing very badly to Sony and Nintendo.
@Steve, they have said you can turn it off and its up to you to enable or disable the sharing of your data. It would be pretty easy to catch them if they where doing it when they shouldn't be.
Where did you see that you have to have it connected at all times? I've seen this in a couple of comments but never any stories or interviews... do you have a link?
So what happens to Xbox One games Next gen? or the Gen after when MS say "f**k it" and shut the servers down? you'll have spent £1000+ and got nothing to show for it.
