Summary
An isolated race of Druids is near extinction. Concerned that their magical abilities will die with them, they create five children to inherit their powers. But there are some that believe that without strict education and training they will abuse these powers, so they make their magic incomplete.
Crimes are being committed; crimes that can’t be solved based on today’s beliefs. It is at this point that you will uncover the mystery of the Druids and embark upon a dangerous quest to prevent them from completing their rite, effectively making them invulnerable. A truly epic story, we’re sure you will agree.
Interestingly, Mystery of the Druids takes place over two significant and defined time periods. This feature alone makes the 50 or so 2D and 3D environments and locations wonderfully diverse. During your quest, you will witness and participate in over 360 interactive scenes that feature some superbly modelled 3D characters, complete with speech.
Going the whole hog, CDV has incorporated lip-sync dialogue, further strengthening the realism of the game. The adventure will challenge you greatly, as there are many puzzles to be solved and mysteries to be unearthed. But most importantly, your goal is to prevent the Druids from acquiring the runestaff. Doing so will ensure the safety of mankind forever.
If you like classic point and click games like Beneath a Steel Sky, Sam and Max, or Myst, then Mystery of the Druids will appeal to you. The main emphasis of the game is exploration and puzzle solving. Same as always, running your mouse over the background scenery to discover items or find places to use items is important. Your inventory will play a big part in this adventure, so don’t throw away any seemingly useless items.
