Summary

Guiding the path of civilisations over the course of centuries is a big job. Really, really big. In fact, it's the sort of task normally left in the hands of the Gods of your denominational choice. Too big, we might even suggest, for one game. It's fortunate for civilisation, then, that 2K has released an expansion for Sid Meier's Civilization IV, going by the name of Beyond the Sword.

2K is boasting Beyond the Sword as the largest expansion for the civilisation-building God game to date. As the name might suggest, it focuses on the latter periods of the game. Namely, those after the invention of gunpowder.

The expansion features 12 diverse new scenarios for God wannabes to sink their teeth into. The new scenarios bear the authentic stamp of 'because you demanded it', with members of the Civilisation fan community having contributed to their creation.

Also included in the expansion are ten new civilisations, 16 new leaders and five new wonders for players to toy with in their quest for godliness.

If you've ever found yourself maniacally plotting world domination but have found yourself a wee bit short on the resources to follow through, this might just be the game for you.
