Summary

What if you had one last chance to have the life you always wanted?

To the Moon is a curious little game with a style and tempo all of its own and a premise reminiscent of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Total Recall.

In the future, doctors have created a technology that enables doctors to enter and manipulate a patient's memories, to the extent that they can give them entirely new ones – a whole new life, even. The implanted memories are permanent, however, and clash with the pre-existing, real memories, effectively ending the person's ability to function. Because of this, the treatment is only given to those on their deathbeds.

So it is that the player enters the memories of John, patient of Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts and a dying man with one last wish – to have been an astronaut. Players must work their way backwards through his memories, unfolding a poignant story about what it is to be human.

To the Moon plays out in the form of a top-down, multi-way scroller of the sort that will be very familiar to fans of '90s JRPGs. It blends RPG, puzzling and point and click adventure elements into a touching package dwells heavily on story and that will stay with you long after you've finished it.
